Alix Miller
Alix Miller holds a MFA in Dance from Florida State University and a PhD in Humanities: Performance and Gender Studies, from FSU. Dr. Miller is currently the Choreographer in Residence at Brooks & Company Dance, a professional modern dance company based in Atlanta, GA.
Dr. Miller was Assistant Professor of Dance and the Director of the Dance Program at the University of Tennessee at Martin, where she created the curriculum for the first Dance Education major in the state. She has served as a guest teacher and/or choreographer for University of Akron/Ohio Ballet, Southeast Alabama Dance Company, Murray State University, Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music, Indiana Dance Festival, the Chattanooga Ballet, and most recently at the University of Georgia. She has served as the Academy Principal and Principal Dancer at Fort Wayne Ballet, and has danced professionally with the Albany Berkshire Ballet.
Alix Miller was the Vice President- West of the Tennessee Association of Dance, served on the Tennessee Board of Education's Dance Licensure Standards Development Team and the editorial board of Intercultures, an interdisciplinary academic journal. She works with conductors on expressive conducting techniques and has published internationally on the subject.
