We are excited to share all that the UGA Department of Dance has to offer with you as you start your college journey. Whether you are pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Dance (AB), a double major with Dance and another degree program, a Dance Minor, or a DoubleDawg Degree, you first need to apply to both the University of Georgia (UGA) and the Department of Dance. Here is how to do it. step one: Apply to the university of georgia You cannot attend the UGA Department of Dance as a dance major or minor unless you are ultimately accepted by the University of Georgia. Recent steady increase in applications to UGA has created higher entrance requirements, so your high school GPA and SAT score are as important as your aptitude in dance as requirements for admission. Current UGA students skip to step two. The UGA application deadline is January 1, 2026. Early admission deadline is October 15, 2025.(You may apply and attend the November dance major audition prior to applying to UGA if you are not applying for early action.) Apply to the University of Georgia Step Two: Apply to the uga department of dance All dancers seeking entrance to the UGA Department of Dance as freshmen or as transfer students during the 2026-2027 academic year are required to submit an application form through Acceptd by October 21, 2025 for the October 24 audition or January 27, 2026 for the January 30 audition. No applications will be accepted after this date. While attending one of these in-person auditions is highly encouraged, a virtual audition for those unable to travel will be planned for Friday, February 13, 2026. Application materials should be submitted by February 10. A one time non-refundable application fee of $35.00 is required. This cost covers the ability for us to work through the Acceptd platform. If you are experiencing financial hardship, you may qualify for a financial assistance waiver. Further information can be found on this page. The following items will be requested for your application: 1. A full length picture of the applicant in dance attire in a position of your choice. Dance Minor The minor in dance consists of eighteen semester hours of dance course work, nine credit hours of 3000-5000 level. Typically a student declares the minor in the freshman or sophomore year and takes required coursework during the sophomore, junior and senior years. Faculty evaluation of the student's technical ability as evidenced in a dance technique class audition is required for the student to declare a dance minor. More information can be found on the minor audition page.
